What does a dancer need for class?

CSS has a simple and easy dress code for you to follow! First, no extra glitter or frills during dance class. Each class at CSS is color coded, the only exception being Creative Movement classes. This means that from Pre-Ballet up, there are to be no attached skirts to leotards, tutus, or other added glam. In the winter months dancers may wear legwarmers, ballet sweaters and/or shrugs. Students in Ballet 4 and up, may wear black dance trunks, aka "booty" shorts, for more modest cover up. All students are to attend class in their leotard of appropriate color with pink tights. Please note: Dancers DO NOT wear UNDERWEAR under their tights.

 Dancers need their hair to be securely tied back. This can be done by the child themselves, pulling hair into a low pony-tail. Ballet 2 and up are required to wear a bun to class. We strongly reccomend that your dancer carry hair supplies with them in their dance bag. CSS tries to always have elastics on hand, however, the dancer is solely responsible. Along with a hair set-up, dancers shoulld have all shoes in one bag at all times.  Please label the INSIDE of your dancer's shoes. All dancers need to be able to recognize their shoes from the dozens of others laying about. Creative Sole does offers a gently used shoe collection for all to search. Please take advantage of recycling your child's shoes. You may contribute to the bin with a straight donation, or by doing an onsite swap. This swap allows you to trade in outgrown shoes for a gently used larger pair of the same type, FREE!

Specific shoes are required for each genre. Ballet,, Tap and Jazz shoes are all available at CSS to size and order.  Hip-Hop dancers need a supportive dance sneaker, while Contemporary dancers are bare foot, no shoes or socks.
